Tracey Brown Miss Idaho USA

Tracey is a senior at Whitworth University in Spokane Washington where she is studying journalism and political science. She is on full scholarship and is a member of the Laureate Society. Tracey is also an intern at KXLY channel 4. After graduation in May, Tracey plans on pursuing a career in television news reporting.

As the Idaho representative at Miss America in 2006, Tracey was awarded the Quality of Life Award and scholarship for her excellence in developing her platform of Breast Cancer Awareness. She also held the title of Idaho's Jr. Miss in 2004, competing at the national level at the America's Jr. Miss Program.

She is active in the field of breast cancer awareness and recently worked with the Idaho legislature to pass a bill creating an "Early Detection Saves Lives" pink ribbon specialty license plate for the state. All proceeds from the sale of the plates cover the costs of mammograms for uninsured women in Idaho. In 2001, Tracey started a Relay for Life at Whitworth. The event has raised more than $20,000 for cancer research since its inception.

Tracey is from Post Falls, Idaho and graduated as salutatorian from Post Falls High School in 2004. She is employed as an onsite wedding coordinator for the Coeur d' Alene Resort. She has been doing classical ballet for 12 years and has danced with the School of American Ballet in New York City, the Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle, and the Ballet Intensive from Moscow in Chicago.

She serves as a writing consultant at Whitworth, she's a member of the school's ethics team and she recently won the university's public speaking contest. Tracey also works with the Hope Project, an organization that finds sponsors for orphans in Tanzania. In her spare time, she enjoys leading a women's Bible study, working out, dancing, enjoying the outdoors of north Idaho, and spending time with friends and family.
